“Lewis Charlesworth's transition from comedian to playwright has been a success”
- Manchester Theatre Awards
Formerly a stand up comedian and actor, acclaimed writer, Lewis Charlesworth started writing short scripts around 2015.
He’s had his work showcased at theatres such as Home Cinema / Theatre (Manchester), The Lowry and The Met Theatre in Bury.
In 2018 he began expanding his range and writing for the screen. So far he has had strong recognition for his work for both the stage and screen with various nominations and longlists mentions, such as The Alfred Fagon
Award (Longlist), BBC Comedy Room 2020 (Longlist), Red Planet Prize Screenwriting Award (last 13%) and more.
He is now on the BBC writers room radar, having recently attended a 2 day CBBC new writers event (invite only) and participated in a writer’s room for the popular Amelia Gething Complex.
Lewis likes to write funny, complex and flawed characters with punchy dialogue and rich themes.
